We have made recent changes to our mail system to prevent spam being sent directly to the mail server. The changes we have made have affected some customer’s ability to send and receive email. If you are a customer that has been affected, here is some information to assist you in getting your mail back to working order.

If you are hosting mail with us, with no external filtering

Your MX and CNAME records should be:

MX 10 mail##.ixwebhosting.com (Example: mail42.ixwebhosting.com)

CNAME should point mail.domain.com to mail##.opentransfer.com (Ex: mail.ixwebhosting.com to mail42.opentransfer.com)

If you are hosting mail with us and use an external mail filter like Postini, Barracuda, etc.

If you are using Postini:

IP ranges for Postini have been cleared to deliver to the mail server. If you are a Postini customer and are still showing authentication bouncebacks to e-mail sent to your domain please contact us so we can get the information to our system administrators as quickly as possible.

If you are using other External Mail Filters:

You should be able to log into your External Filter’s Control Panel and and see what mailserver you are set to send to. If it is set to mail##.opentransfer.com, or the IP of the mail server, change the information to mail##.ixwebhosting.com. If this does not seem to resolve the issue, set up your external mail client to use SMTP Authentication
